A participatory performance and exhibition about touch and fashion
Introduction
Renowned artist Neoza Goffin joins forces with international fashion designer Sander Bos to create INNERSKIN, a participatory performance that delves into the relationship between fashion and touch.
This immersive experience invites audiences to explore the sensory power of touch through interactive exercises. Five performers, dressed in specially designed costumes featuring diverse textures, guide participants on a journey of tactile discovery. Blindfolded, participants first explore the unique fabrics, then their own bodies, and finally the hands of the performer in front of them.
INNERSKIN seeks to illuminate the often-overlooked significance of touch in Western culture. It highlights touch as a vital element for well-being and social connection, aiming to raise awareness of its profound impact on our lives. The project is proudly supported by culture house 0090 and the City of Antwerp.
Mission
We highlight the benefits of conscious touch with people, clothing, and materials. Simple acts, like touching your favorite sweater, can boost oxytocin - a hormone that strengthens social bonds, trust, and emotional connection.
In today’s fast-paced, digital world, physical touch has declined, often seen as taboo or overly sexualized. The Covid-19 pandemic worsened this, increasing loneliness and skin hunger. Our project raises awareness of this issue and offers practical exercises to reconnect through the power of touch, while emphasizing the tactile dimension of fashion.
